Mahaney-One Year

On November 28, 2012 two hearts were joined as one on the Hawaiian island of Kaui. Sonja Watson and John Mahaney were married on “Ship Wreck” beach in traditional island customs. Sonja and John were greeted by a Conch Shell blown three times; these three sounds represent the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and their intention to include Christian values in their new lives. They exchanged lei’s symbolizing the affection, respect, and never-ending love they have for each other, and then shared lei’s with their good friends Chad and Fawn Andersen. Next was the, “Water Blending Ceremony,” they shared fresh water poured from two carafes into one, signifying the blending of their lives as one, the remaining water was poured back to mother earth.
Sonja and John live here in Yakima with their son Mark. A celebration of their marriage with family and friends will take place this spring.
